Beal Discusses All-Star Weekend as Wizards Prepare for Second Half

Jeremy Hyman -

The Wizards returned from the All-Star break and were back at Verizon Center for an evening practice on Monday.

Randy Wittman referred to the players as caged animals after being away from the floor for a few days and liked that they came out today for a spirited practice. Everyone was available and on the floor running in the scrimmage, including Cartier Martin, who had been out with a hyper-extended left knee.

Bradley Beal was the only member of the team who did not get to choose how he spent his time off as he was in Houston for NBA All-Star Weekend. Beal took part in Friday's Rising Stars Challenge and then stayed for the weekend and said that he showed up to watch the second half of the actual All-Star game (because "nobody watches the first half").

Here is a clip from today's practice, featuring a nice midrange jumper from Beal:

Randy Wittman addressed the media after practice and talked about his expectations for the second half of the season, along with the fact that everyone on the roster needs to stay ready and wait for their number to be called:

We also heard from the former Laker, Trevor Ariza, who commented on the passing of the longtime owner of the Lakers, Jerry Buss, along with his outlook on the team for the second half of the season:

The Wizards are back in action on Tuesday night as they host the Toronto Raptors for the first time this season. They will see plenty of the Raptors over the next six weeks, playing them a total of four times. The Raptors have won four in a row and are 5-2 since acquiring Rudy Gay, so this should be a good test for the Wizards to start the second-half of the season.
