USA Basketball Showcase: White vs. BluePosted on August 01, 2014 by Jeremy Hyman
The first week of training is now complete for John Wall, Bradley Beal, and the rest of Team USA.
With practices done for the week, the Las Vegas leg of USA Basketball culminates with the USA Basketball Showcase, which will be an intrasquad scrimmage between USA Blue and USA White (Friday | 9pm | ESPN).
While Wall and Beal have played together for most of the scrimmages during the week, the two will be split up as Wall will play for Team Blue and Beal Team White.
See the full rosters here:
Of the 20 players playing in the scrimmage, only 12 will be on the final roster that travels to Spain at the end of the month for the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
There will still be more training sessions before Spain, the next being in Chicago (Aug 14-16), before final cuts are expected to be made. While making the final roster is far from certain, it's very possible both Wall and Beal will train again with Team USA in two weeks in Chicago, where that session culminates with a game against Nene and Brazil at the United Center on August 16th.
But first the USA Basketball Showcase tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
A chance for both Wall and Beal to showcase their talents in front of a national audience and show their peers what they're capable of doing against the very best. Not that they really need to prove anything:
What they've done in their two seasons together has opened eyes around the league and as you can see from the video above, people have noticed.
Tonight is just an exhibition, but with so many stars in camp, both are probably on the bubble for making the final 12-man roster. Any chance to show these coaches what they can do against this level of competition can only help their chances to crack that final squad.
The action kicks off at 9pm on ESPN.
