Miller Arrives, Teammates Rejoice

Now in his 15th NBA season, veteran point guard Andre Miller has built quite a reputation around the league.

He's one of those guys that everyone respects and terms like 'leadership', 'high IQ', 'heady', and 'savvy' are often used to describe his play.

He's never been the fastest, the quickest, the greatest leaper, or the most athletic guy on the court, but he's always had that "wily old man's game," as Al Harrington noted today after practice. The guy that just goes out there and "gets buckets, controls the whole run. He's got a game that's just ageless".

Miller has been around a while and has previously played with both Harrington and with Nene back in Denver. He came into the league with the Cavs back in 1999, who were then coached by none other than our own Randy Wittman. Witt acknowledged how funny the league can be to make things come full circle like that.

Everyone that's ever played with Miller has had nothing but good things to say about him.

Hear what some of his teammates who've gone to battle with him in the past had to say after today's practice:

Nene on Miller:

Harrington on Miller:

Wittman on Miller:

And even though we didn't talk with Marcin Gortat, his tweet says enough:

The Wizards have 28 games left and expect Miller to play a big role in this stretch run. He should slip right into the backup point guard role behind Wall and may even play a little bit with Wall, as Wittman hinted in his media availability.

Look for Miller to be available tomorrow night (Saturday) when the Wizards host the New Orleans Pelicans.

Miller's first media availability with Wizards:

While it's not as certain as Miller playing, another addition the Wiz may have tomorrow night will be veteran forward Al Harrington. After giving glowing remarks on Miller, Al was asked about his own health and said that he was ready to play. Now, he's just waiting for the coaches to give him the green light to get back out on the court. But, the fact that he's been practicing and says he's ready should mean that we're on the verge of an Al Harrington sighting, at least in some capacity, in the very near future.

The Wizards host the Pelicans on Saturday night at 7pm at Verizon Center.
