Beal Back at Practice

Posted on December 11, 2013 by Jeremy Hyman

During Monday night's #WizNuggets game, the Wizards issued this injury update on Bradley Beal and Al Harrington. The positive words from the release indicated that Beal would be "increasing his basketball activities."

So what did he do today?

The good news was that he returned to the practice court and did partake in some activities.

"I did a lot of half court stuff today. The doc and my trainers don't want me to go full court, or up and down as much. I got into some drills that were pretty live in the half court. Just getting used to cutting, curling, just doing little drills like that. Competing a little bit, getting my wind back. It was great to be able to do that and being back out there," said Beal.

Watch the full interview above to hear more from Beal, but this does sound like steps in the right direction.

He did say that he wanted to play this weekend (either in ATL on Friday or home vs. LAC on Sat), but that he would have to be smart about this and not rush into anything due to the severity of the injury.

Randy Wittman echoed similar thoughts about Beal and his injury and seemed to be cautious about giving a return date for him.

"We want to be slow in the process to make sure we're doing it the right way, because of what has happened in the past," said Wittman.

If he feels great after practice tomorrow and shootaround on Friday, there's a chance we could see him in either game this weekend, but it sounds as if the team will treat this injury very carefully and next week would be a safer bet as to a Beal return.

Randy Wittman

Wittman did indicate that Martell Webster went through all of Wednesday's practice and was optimistic about him returning on Friday night. If he has no setbacks between now and Friday night, he should be available.

Witt also spoke about some of the struggles from the second unit and how he wants them to be more aggressive. Watch the video above for more.

Martell Webster

"It feels good, still a little weak, but testing the waters. Had a good practice today, probably played about 90% of the practice, so taking a step in the right direction," said Martell Webster, who is hoping he'll be able to go in Friday night's #WizHawks game.

Glen Rice

Glen Rice talked about what it was like to make his first career NBA start on Monday night and how he plans on going about his business moving forward. He downplayed the milestone in his career, but was excited to get the opportunity and says he won't stop being aggressive on both ends of the floor.

Eric Maynor

Eric Maynor spoke on his early season struggles and how he vows that the team will see a better version of himself moving forward. He said he's just putting in extra work right now and will improve as the season progresses.

The Wizards will practice again on Thursday and then fly to Atlanta in the late afternoon. They play the Hawks at Phillips Arena on Friday night at 7:30pm.
