Wizards Take on Pelicans at Rupp ArenaPosted on October 19, 2013 by Jeremy Hyman
Wizards vs. Pelicans | 7pm | Rupp Arena | Radio: 1500 AM | #WizPelicans
The Wizards take on the New Orleans Pelicans tonight at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY for their fifth preseason game of the season.
This is the third preseason game played at a venue unfamiliar to the NBA, as the Wiz have already played one game in Rio de Janeiro and one in Baltimore.
Nene is back with the team and is expected to be in the starting lineup after missing the previous two games due to personal reasons.
The team will again be without Emeka Okafor (neck), Chris Singleton (foot), and Otto Porter (hip).
What to watch for:
Rupp Arena will be nearly full tonight as Big Blue Nation comes out to watch former Kentucky stars John Wall, Anthony Davis, and Darius Miller. It should make for a lively college-like atmosphere for a preseason NBA game.
The Wizards will look to continue to juggle lineups and play with different combinations as they prepare themselves for the regular season. Having Nene back in the middle will solidify things down low and let the Wizards play out of the post with their best passing big man.
They will also continue to take a look at the trio of young bigs, Kevin Seraphin, Trevor Booker, and Jan Vesely as these games will help determine who will be apart of the rotation when the season begins.
John Wall and Bradley Beal came out in the second half of Thursday night's game and scored 16 straight points and the team will again watch the two of them build chemistry with one another. Beal has eclipsed the 20 point plateau in each of the team's last two preseason games and look for him to continue that trend in Kentucky tonight.
The team did a better job of limiting turnovers on Thursday vs. New York, finishing the game with just 12, and that will be a point of emphasis throughout the preseason.
Tip-off is set for 7pm. The game will not be televised back in DC, but you can listen to the game on 1500 AM with Dave Johnson and Glenn Consor on the call.
