Wizards Take in Big Blue Madness

Posted on October 19, 2013 by Jeremy Hyman

Wow, what an event that was.

Kentucky's Big Blue Madness was held last night at Rupp Arena and with the Wizards and Pelicans in town to play on Saturday night, both teams had many players in attendance.

They were in for a treat because not many schools put on a show quite like they do at Kentucky.  With one of the most crazed college fan bases in the country, it was clear they love their wildcats here in Lexington.

They also love former Wildcats, as John Wall, Anthony Davis, and Darius Miller were all recognized at the event and received huge ovations from the sold out Rupp Arena.

Consider this a taste of what's to come, as we had Wall mic'd up for the event and should have some great exclusive video coming to Monumental Network soon!

Many of the Wizards joined Wall and watched the event from the floor, which consisted of everything from light-up jerseys during player intros to choreographed dance moves from the women's basketball team.

The production value would get a 10 out of 10 as the "show" had pyrotechnics and moving parts like you would see at a pop concert.

John Calipari spoke for a good 10 to 15 minutes and was interrupted nearly every minute of his speech by enormous roars from the crowd.  He recognized Wall, Davis, & Miller, who were all sitting at the scorers table, and received even louder ovations from Big Blue Nation.

The noise was deafening at times and the environment would make it hard for anyone not to get fired up for the upcoming season.

Check out some photos of the Wizards at the event.
