For one night the Wizards were better than the Miami Heat. Now the Wizards are hoping that their offense, which against the Heat finally matched the team's improved defense, will be more consistent.
It is understood that not every game is going to be like Tuesday when the Wizards had 31 assists on 38 made field goals. Still the win over the Heat provided the Wizards with an offensive blueprint going forward. The ball didn't stick and when there was dribbling it was with a purpose and often a drive to the basket.
Here is today's Wizards Report:
As noted in the Wizards Report, Trevor Ariza recorded his 1,00th career assist against the Heat.. Before having to leave the game with a left calf strain in the third quarter, Ariza had five assists. Not sure how long Ariza will miss, but Kevin Seraphin missed three weeks in pre-season with a similar injury.
The Washington Wizards wanted Tuesday’s game against the defending champion Miami Heat to be their statement game of the season. A convincing win over the Heat delivered the statement, but now the Wizards are focused on creating a more complete story defined by multiple victories starting tonight in Atlanta. The statement win over the Heat will fall apart like a sentence fragment if the Wizards slip into bad habits on offense. The 31 assists recorded by the Wizards in the win over the Heat showed the team’s potential, but just a game before the Wizards only had 11 assists against the Knicks. Here is today’s Wizards Report:
