Consor's Corner : Pre Season Rap

Posted on January 14, 2013 by DJ-WizardsRadio

As I sit here in San Antonio before the last Preseason game, here are some thoughts: 1) Witt has done an excellent job given no JW, Nene, and Kevin. Team will not get punked, plays hard, mentally tough, executes. Now, style will be very different when those 3 return, player's roles will be established, hopefully by December, we can determine how good this team can be, impossible to assess this team now. However, when and if we get healthy, I do believe, with our personnel, we have the pieces to be a top defensive NBA team. 2) Martell Webster's passion, ability to shoot and get to the rim, better than I expected! Immediate impact player, love guys with passion! 2) AJ Price has earned backup spot to JW, tough, managed games, except vs Miami, shot it well with range, plays hard! 3) Emeka, better offensively than I thought, plays angles well like Tyson Chandler, protects paint, rim, and helps! Love his D and professionalism. Immediate impact player. 4) Ariza, disappointed with his offensive skills, ball handling, passing, decisions, however, not quite sure why, seems mental to me, hoping when all return, and regular season begins, he will get into his game and focus. I know what he can do, just have not seen it yet. He can be a difference maker on D and in the transition game. I wanna shake him! 5) Jordan, still a weapon offensively, one guy who can create, must be more consistent with his decision making and shot selection, scorers take bad shots, will win games this year for the Wizards, has matured! Love his passion, can flat out score. 6) Vesely, has improved his perimeter jumper, still does all the little things that help you win games, lost some focus for a few games, surprisingly, terrific tip out player keeping possessions, improved passer, needs to finish O rebounds. 7) Beal, so solid for a rookie and poised, learning the speed of the game, mature, his game and opportunities will change when JW returns, can score 20ppg in his sleep, not just a shooter, love his attack game, learning process on how to Defend. Love him. 8)Booker, the way he played against the Bucks was special, the Human Jumper Cables, electric with his intensity, key with Book, do not miss games, Wiz need him healthy, improved outside shot 9) Singleton, love his mental toughness, one of the best defenders in the NBA, versatile, improved jumper, can play the 3 or 4, will be on the court this year with major minutes 10) Shelvin, rough summer, but I thought he played well with limited minutes, playing for a roster spot, I would not cut him, just me, he is a shot and play maker 11) Pargo, impressed with his ability to get his shot off, and range, more of a 2, turnover prone at the 1, but can score at that spot, struggles with decisions at the one especially running 1/2 court offense. The key this year will be how quickly all can get healthy, consequently, hope that the hole is not to deep before guys get back. I do believe, with the pieces in place, and chemistry clicks sometime in Jan, this team can scratch for a playoff spot. Someone is going to need to step up from a scoring standpoint and develop into a closing threat. I love the tough minded character of this team. Sorry, knocked this out on an IPad. See you all soon.
