Wizards Overtake CavsPosted on January 14, 2013 by FantasticWiz
Jeremy Hyman - WashingtonWizards.com When Kevin Seraphin went down in the 1st Q with a calf strain, the Wizards lost their fifth forward to injury (Nene, Okafor, Booker, Singleton) but that did not deter the healthy bodies from pulling out a 99-95 win at the Q in Cleveland on Saturday night. Although it was only preseason, it's always nice to see the team find a way to win a tight game and with so many players missing this should give the team some confidence as the regular season nears. Brian Cook hit a huge go-ahead 3 pointer with just under 50 seconds left and then it was Bradley Beal who sealed the game with two free-throws in the final seconds. The Wizards actually missed a few critical free throws in the final 10 seconds, but thanks to some great hustle on the offensive glass they were able to retain possession and let Beal wrap things up. Brad Beal, Jordan Crawford, and Brian Cook all scored 14 points to lead the team while Crawford had a team-high seven assists. A good first preseason win for a team that will now travel to Brooklyn and open up the Barclays Center on Monday night at 7:30 pm.
